Gabriella Then, who will enroll at USC in a matter of weeks as a freshman on the USC women's golf team, won the prestigious U.S. Girls' Junior on Saturday (July 27) in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Then, a 17-year-old from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., beat Lakareber Abe 2 and 1 in the 36-hole final at Sycamore Hills.
Then advanced out of match play with the No. 44 slot and worked her way to the final after two previous first-round match play finals at the event and a 2011 quarterfinal loss.
Then will join a loaded Trojan team which won the 2013 NCAA team title by 21 strokes at an NCAA record 19-under par for its school record seventh win of the season. The squad, which also won the Pac-12 and NCAA West Regional title, returns all five starters from last year, including four All-Americans and the 2013 Player of the Year, Annie Park.
