LOS ANGELES - The No. 1-ranked USC women's sand volleyball team (17-1) hosts the first-ever Pac-12 Invitational this weekend (April 19-20) at the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica, Calif. The Women of Troy have won 16 consecutive duals and enter the team portion of the invitational as the top seed. Loyola Marymount (7-8) comes in as the second seed followed by third-seeded Arizona (6-8), fourth-seeded Bakersfield (6-8), fifth-seeded Arizona State (3-2), and sixth-seeded Cal Poly (1-7).
The top two seeds receive first-round byes as play begins on Saturday, April 19, with matches between the Wildcats and the Mustangs at 8 a.m. PT, followed by the Sun Devils and Roadrunners at 9 a.m. The Trojans will take on the winner of the ASU-Bakersfield match at 10 a.m., followed by LMU against the winner of the Arizona-Cal Poly match at 11 a.m. First-round losers will have a chance to play back into a semifinal with duals set for noon and 1 p.m. Semifinals will be played at 2 and 3 p.m., with the championship match at 4 p.m. PT.
On Sunday, April 20, pairs from USC, Arizona, ASU, and Bakersfield will be seeded into a 20-team single-elimination bracket. Play begins at 9 a.m. PT and concludes with a pairs championship match at approximately 2 p.m.
