MATCH NOTES
- USC wins its fourth straight season opener and improves to 12-2 in openers under head coach Mick Haley. The program improves to 33-6 in all season openers and 11-3 when the opener is on the road.
- The Trojans win their first meeting with Rider.
- USC reached double digits in service aces (10) for the first time since it had 15 in a match against Alabama A&M on Aug. 31, 2013, in West Lafayette, Ind.
- Junior OH Samantha Bricio put up five service aces in a single match for the eighth time in her career. It is also the 18th time that she has had at least three aces in the same match.
- Bricio pushed her career service aces total to 133 which is only three shy of fourth place on USC's all-time ladder behind Janice Johnson's 136 (1982-85).
- All five of USC's freshmen appeared in the match including OH Lauryn Gillis who got the first start of her collegiate career.
