Marko Vavic Named MPSF Newcomer of the Week

Trojan freshman scored 10 goals across three USC wins last week.

Freshman Marko Vavic has secured his second straight selection as the MPSF Newcomer of the Week honors with this week's pick. Vavic scored 10 goals on 14 shots taken while adding nine assists and making four steals as USC collected three wins in two days of work. That makes it back-to-back Newcomer awards for the 6-foot-6 Trojan.

Before scoring twice in USC's 11-5 win at No. 9 Pepperdine on Saturday, Vavic led the Trojans with a career-high four goals in a 16-6 win at No. 15 Cal Baptist at the Lancer Joust on Friday. He scored four again in the next game to help USC to a 24-3 win over Fresno Pacific. With his 10-goal effort on the week, Vavic now stands as USC's second leading scorer with 29 goals to date.

This week, Vavic and the Trojans are set up to host Long Beach State at 5 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 5) at Uytengsu Aquatics Center. On Saturday (Oct. 7), USC will hit the road to take on UC Santa Barbara at 12 p.m.
