Smith Falls in Quarterfinals of Main Draw at Riviera/ITA All-American Championships

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.--USC's No. 14 Gabby Smith had an impressive run in the Main Draw of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships where she defeated two Top-15 ranked opponents. She reached the Quarterfinals of the tournament which was held at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

By securing placement in the Quarterfinals, Smith earned a berth to the ITA Fall National Championships which will be held in Indian Wells, Calif. from November 1-5.

Smith kicked off the Main Draw competition by defeating fellow Pac-12 opponent and Top-10 player, No. 7 Melissa Lord of Stanford 6-3, 6-4. She rolled over that momentum to the Round of 16 where she took down Florida's No. 12 Josie Kuhlman in an exciting three-set match 6-3, 5-7, 6-0.

In the Quarterfinals, Smith fell to No. 30 Aliona Bolsova of Florida Atlantic 7-5, 6-1.
