Smith Progresses to USTA Pro Circuit Semifinals

Senior Gabby Smith has advanced to the semifinals of the USTA Pro Circuit event in Lubbock, Texas. Today (Sept. 21), Smith, who is ranked No. 14 in the ITA, defeated Rasheeda McAdoo 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (2) in the quarterfinal match.

After securing placement in the main draw on Monday (Sept. 18), Smith received a walkover in the Round of 32. On Wednesday (Sept. 19), she beat Nicole Coopersmith who is currently ranked No. 631 by the ITF in the Round of 16.

Tomorrow afternoon (Sept. 22), Smith will take on No. 628 (ITF ranking) Alisa Kleybanova in the semifinals. In 2011, Kleybanova was ranked No. 20 in the world by the ITF.
