Hallgren and Slater Named AVCA High School Beach All-Americans

The incoming freshmen are part of a highly-anticipated recruiting class for the defending NCAA champion Women of Troy
LOS ANGELES – USC beach volleyball freshmen Haley Hallgren (Southlake, Texas/Southlake Carroll Senior HS) and Sammy Slater (Ventura, Calif./Ventura Valley Girls HS) were each named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) High School Beach All-America team. The duo is part of the fourth-annual AVCA HS Beach All-America Team, which is comprised of six of the elite high school beach volleyball players from across the country and ten additional selections for All-America Honorable Mention.

Hallgren and Slater combined to win gold at this summer's 18U BVCA National Championship and also took home first-place medals at the USAV High Performance Championships.

In 2016, Joy Dennis received honorable mention on the AVCA HS Beach All-America team. Abril Bustamante was named to the 2015 team. Jo Kremer, while committed to play indoor volleyball at Notre Dame, was named to the inaugural HS All-America team in 2014.

The top-ranked beach volleyball team went 38-1 in 2017 to capture the program's third consecutive national title and back-to-back NCAA crowns. USC also won its second of back-to-back Pac-12 team titles. Seventh-year head coach Anna Collier improved her all-time record to 146-18 as she guided the Trojans to an undefeated season on home sand (8-0) at Merle Norman Stadium. Sara Hughes and Kelly Claes claimed the USAV Beach Collegiate Pairs National Championship following the conclusion of the college regular season, their second national title together (AVCA 2015).
