Women's Water Polo SCORES Big

Last week, the USC women's water polo team hosted a clinic for local children in the East Los Angeles community at Weingart YMCA.

For many of the local children, water polo is an unfamiliar sport due to the lack of accessibility to pools and swim instructors. However, the Weingart YMCA just launched its own water polo program, which currently serves 20 kids. Weingart YMCA is one of three centers to introduce the sport to youth.

Trojan Outreach provided the children the opportunity to learn from current USC student-athletes to give them an up close and personal experience with the sport as their weekly practice became a clinic. The Trojans led Scoring 101 drills such as "quick retrieve" and taught the fundamentals of body positioning, shooting, passing, how to draw ordinary fouls and other technical drills. After the drills, the children were treated to complimentary Nike sports bags, USC Water Polo team shirts, and a pizza party dinner.
