No. 2 USC Beach Sweeps Horned Frogs

The Women of Troy defeated No. 20-ranked TCU with their second 5-0 sweep of the season
MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. – The No. 2-ranked USC beach volleyball team (7-4) defeated No. 20 TCU (3-7) with a clean 5-0 sweep of the Horned Frogs in the East Meets West Challenge at the Manhattan Beach Pier on Sunday, March 11.

The courts went down in order as the Trojans blanked the Frogs. At the top court, junior Abril Bustamante and freshman Tina Graudina completed a 21-15, 21-4 win over Jillian Bergeson and Jaelyn Greene. Senior Terese Cannon and freshman Sammy Slater downed Haven Hill and Cassie House, 21-14, 21-14, at court two to put a second point on the board for the Trojans.

The clinching point came from court three where sophomore Joy Dennis and freshman Haley Hallgren teamed to take a 21-15, 22-20 win over Jensyn Bledsoe and Molly Scheel. USC added a fourth point when seniors Jenna Belton and Jo Kremer defeated Avery Arellano and Jordan Westendorff, 21-16, 21-11, at court four.

It took three sets, but junior Katrina Kernochan and senior Alexandra Poletto put the sweep into the books with their 20-22, 21-13, 15-8 win over Claire Doyle and Hannah Rogers at court five.

The Women of Troy conclude the East Meets West Challenge with a showdown against No. 5 Florida State at 4 p.m. PT today. USC heads to Hawai'i for five duals next weekend in the Outrigger Hawai'i Invitational on Queen's Beach in Honolulu.
