Gore Leads Trojans At UC Riverside XC Invitational

Senior Amber Gore placed 18th in the 6K race at the 38th Annual UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational in Riverside, Calif. to lead the USC cross country team as it opened its season today (Sept.15).
Gore was USC's top finisher at 18th with a time of 21:06.5 to lead the Trojans in the 6K race. Last season at the same event, she placed 46th with a time of 21:40.9. Junior Kamryn Weber was running in her first 6K race and was the second Trojan to finish, placing 93rd with a time of 22:39.1. Sophomore Jennifer Daly had a time of 23:26.6 to place 120th and sophomore Julia Bounds had a time of 24:18.8 to finish 48th.
Junior Chloe Berry was held out of the race for precautionary reasons due to soreness in her knee and sophomore Sydney Tullai had a respiratory issue and did not complete the race. As a result, USC had only four runners which did not qualify it in the team competition.
Freshmen Alyssa Brewer and Brynn Sauer were the only Trojans to compete in the 5K race which was run a little over an hour after the first race. In their first meet as Trojans, Brewer had a time of 19:12.8 to finish 51st and Sauer a time of 20:20.1 to place 130th.
