Gore Wins The Master's XC Invitational Title; Trojans Place 5th

Amber Gore won the 2018 Master's University XC Invitational to lead USC to a fifth-place finish, second among Division I schools, today (Sept. 29) at Central Park in Santa Clarita, Calif.
Gore stormed to the 5K victory with a time of 17:45.8, defeating the second-place finisher of the over 200 entrants by nearly three seconds. Gore became USC's first individual champion at a cross country meet since Madison Ricks won the 4K Pepperdine Invitational on Sept. 1, 2016.
Freshman Alyssa Brewer was USC's second finisher, taking 33rd with a time of 18:55.7. Right behind Brewer in 35th place was sophomore Jennifer Daly with a time of 18:58.5 and junior Kamryn Weber in 38th with a big PR of 19:00.8. The Trojans' final scoring runner was senior Lauren Maurer who had a time of 19:16.7 to place 51st.
Junior Chloe Berry placed 57th with a time of 19:21.3 and sophomore Sydney Tullai had a time of 20:50.1 to finish 121st.
The USC cross country team will next be in action at the NCAA Pre-Regionals meet in Madison, Wisc. on Oct. 13.
