Trojans finish fifth overall.
Junior Mark Jurek made his first career appearance in a conference A final, sophomore Nikola Miljenic made his second while junior Mario Koenigsperger clocked a huge 200 breast squad to highlight USC's final evening at the 2019 Pac-12 Men's Swimming Championships on Saturday (March 9) in Federal Way, Wash.
USC finished fifth with 366.5 points. California won the team title with 949 points. Stanford (716) was second and followed by, Arizona (570), Arizona State (459.5), USC and Utah (335).
Jurek, in his first career Pac-12 A final, finished seventh in the 200y fly with a season-best 1:441.41. Senior Walker Bell was 11th overall in 1:45.31.
Miljenic, fourth earlier in the week in the 50y free, tied for sixth in the 100y free tonight in 42.80. His prelim effort of 42.68 was a PR, which he lowered again in the leadoff of the 400y free relay to 42.56 in the final race of the meet. The time moves him into sixth on USC's all-time top 10 list.
Koenigsperger threw down a huge swim to win the B final of the 200y breast in 1:53.72, lowering his PR by 2.46 seconds with a time that would have been fourth in the A final and fifth in prelims. He's now the second fastest Trojan ever in the race behind only three-time Pac-12 champion
Freshman Victor Johansson, the 500y free title winner Thursday, was eighth in the timed final of the 1650y free in 14:57.15 while fellow freshman Owen Kao scored with a 14th-place finish in 15:21.61. Senior Patrick Mulcare finished second in the B final of 200y back in 1:41.83.
In the final race of the championships, USC was sixth in the 400y free relay with Miljenic, senior Kyle Grissom, freshman Alexei Sancov and and senior Patrick Mulcare going a season-best 2:53.27.
