Football Players Give Back On Their Off Day

On Monday, most USC students enjoyed a relaxed day off from school as the nation celebrated President's Day.

But three USC football players — Malik McClain, Munir McClain and De'jon Benton — used the break from classes to give back to the local community.

The McClain brothers and Benton headed to the Skid Row neighborhood in downtown Los Angeles, where there is a large community of homeless people.

The Trojans handed out food, clothing, shoes and personal hygiene kits to individuals living on the streets.

The Trojans prayed with many of the homeless individuals and learned some of the difficulties they endure on a daily basis.

"The most important message they shared with us were to take care of our families to always listen to our parents," said Munir, a rising sophomore wide receiver. "I enjoyed my experience of giving back to the less fortunate because it's also an experience for me to learn at the same time."
