The Women of Troy improved to 20-0 all-time against the Lions
LOS ANGELES – The fifth-ranked USC beach volleyball team (3-2) defeated No. 8 Loyola Marymount (3-3) by a 4-1 count at Merle Norman Stadium on Thursday, March 5, to move to 20-0 all-time against the Lions.
The Women of Troy notched their 56th all-time win on home sand at MNS (56-8).
USC's freshman twin duo of Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse scored the Trojans' first point with a win at the No. 3 position. The Women of Troy went up, 2-0, on a win at court four where senior Joy Dennis and freshman Harper Hallgren defeated Georgia Fusco and Lacy Haddock, 21-18, 22-20. It was the fourth win for the Trojans' No. 4 tandem.
Junior Haley Hallgren and grad Hailey Harward delivered the clinching point from the top court in a tight win, 21-18, 23-21, over Selina Marolf and Reka Orsi Toth. The Lions scored their only dual point at court two before USC's duo of senior Cammie Dorn and junior Paige Dreeuws completed a three-set win, 18-21, 21-14, 15-10 over Cassie Chinn and Jessie Prichard for the 4-1 final.
The Women of Troy are back in action on Saturday and Sunday (March 7-8) at the Pac-12 South Invitational. USC will face No. 19 Stanford and No. 2 UCLA on the first day; and then take on No. 11 California and Utah on the second day. Duals against Stanford and Utah will take place at Ocean Park Beach in Santa Monica, Calif.; and the duals against Cal and UCLA will take place at Mapes Beach on the campus of UCLA. The Trojans-Bruins dual will be streamed live.
