Trojan Outreach Partners With LA's Best
April 07, 2020 | Trojan Outreach, Features
As the nation deals with the COVID-19 crisis, USC's Trojan Outreach program is stepping up to help the local community.
Trojan Outreach has long partnered with LA's BEST, an afterschool education, enrichment and recreation program serving more than 25,000 children in L.A. Recently, Trojan Outreach has provided resources for them as they work to make a difference during the school shutdown.
Trojan Outreach's donation will support the LA's BEST/LAUSD Operations Team as they work on the District's efforts to distribute food, devices and other necessities at the LAUSD Grab & Go Distribution Centers for families across the city.
There are 60 locations around Los Angeles, open from 8 am to 11 am every weekday. Each child can take two meals, but they are allowing additional family members to pick up food as well. At least 10 sites are distributing more than 2,000 meals per morning.
"We are grateful to our long time partnership with the University of Southern California and McCall Hall, Director of Community Outreach, for being first responders as we face these challenging times," said Eric Gurna, CEO of LA's Best. "By providing vital resources and needed funding, USC is giving immediate support to ensure LA's BEST will continue being effective in meeting the needs of thousands of children & families we serve together across Los Angeles."
