Sophomore Brianna Navarrosa finishes as the Trojans' low player, tying for 21st.
Three Trojans carded 73s and the team combined for their low round of the tournament, but it wasn't enough as the USC women's golf team finished 10th and out of match play in the final stroke play round of the 2022 NCAA Championships at Grayhawk G.C. on Monday (May 23) in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Trojans finished a combined 33-over 1185 (298-294-300-293), one back of ninth-place Arizona State and two back of Georgia, which secured the eighth and final match-play bracket spot.
USC, featuring a starting lineup with two freshmen and two sophomores all spring, was a three-time winner this season, including at the NCAA Stanford Regional two weeks ago, but fell just short of reaching the program's sixth match-play bracket and a shot at a fourth national title.
Sophomore Brianna Navarrosa finished as USC's low player, tying for 21st at 6-over 294 (72-73-75-74). It was her third straight top 22 finish, including in all three postseason events, and her ninth top 24 of the season.
Sophomore Michaela Morard was USC's top player over the final 36 holes at 1-over and finished tied for 31st overall at 8-over 296 (76-75-72-73) with three birdies in her final round. This was her seventh top 31 finish this season.
Freshman Xin (Cindy) Kou tied for 52nd at 11-over 299 (76-73-77-73), finishing with a 1-over final round. She started out at 3-over after three holes, but finished the final 15 at 2-under.
Freshman Amari Avery tied for 57th at 13-over 301 (74-77-77-73), closing with her best round of the week. She went out at 3-over, but came home at 2-under. Senior Katherine Muzi tied for 70th at 20-over 308 (82-73-76-77).
