No. 7 USC Men’s Tennis Sticks To Marks Stadium For ITA Kickoff Weekend

Trojans host the event for the 15th straight time, looking for a 15th straight ticket to ITA Indoors.
THIS WEEK
The No. 7 USC men's tennis team is lined up as host of ITA Kickoff Weekend competition for the 15th straight year as the Trojans have an eye on securing a 15th consecutive spot at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. Once again, the journey begins at USC's own Marks Stadium, where the Trojan host three other teams for the two-day event, running Jan. 28-29. Coming from nearby Westwood is No. 25 UCLA, while Vanderbilt and Memphis join in from out-of-state. On Saturday (Jan. 28), the day begins with Memphis and No. 25 UCLA facing off at 11 a.m., while No. 7 USC and Vanderbilt are set to clash at 2 p.m. The losing teams from Saturday are scheduled to square off in the Consolation Match at 11 a.m. on Sunday (Jan. 29), with the Championship Match between Saturday's winners set for 2 p.m. The winner of that match will secure its place at next month's ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Chicago.
Last season, USC defeated Harvard to punch their 14th straight ticket to the ITA National Indoor Championships.
RANKINGS
Troy enters the spring season as the No. 7 ranked team in the country (ITA Coaches Poll, Jan. 25). USC boasts three Trojans in the national singles rankings with sophomore Peter Makk leading USC at No. 38 after a strong fall showing. Trojan 5th year Bradley Frye locked in the No. 65 ranking, while senior Stefan Dostanic secured the No. 79 rank.
USC also boasts a ranked doubles pair of Stefan Dostanicand Bradley Frye, who hold the No. 12 rank.
LAST SEASON
During 2022, Troy accumulated a 23-6 record, captured it's second consecutive Pac-12 Tournament Championship and reached the NCAA Round of 16. USC wrapped up 2022 as the No. 13 ranked team in the country while Bradley Frye and Stefan Dostanic earned All-America honors. The 2022 season also saw Masi named Pac-12 Coach of the Year, while Trojans also swept the Pac-12 Player and Doubles Team of the Year awards.

SCOUTING VANDERBILT
Vanderbilt (unranked) has not seen any dual action this season, with their opening match coming against the Trojans on Saturday. The Commodore's do not currently have any ranked singles or doubles.
SCOUTING UCLA
No. 25 UCLA popped into the ITA team rankings on Jan. 25 after defeating Hawaii and No. 19 Pepperdine to start the season. Earlier this week Bruin #83 Alexander Hoogmartens was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week after defeated two ranked opponents. UCLA's Giacomo Revelli is also an ITA ranked player, currently holding the No. 89 spot.

Memphis (unranked) is 0-1 on the season, opening 2023 with a 5-2 loss at No. 20 duke over the weekend. The Tigers do not currently have any ranked singles or doubles.
