Big Ten Conference Announces USC’s Football Opponents for Next Five Seasons

LOS ANGELES--The Big Ten Conference announced USC's football opponent rotations for the next five seasons, today (Oct. 5).
With the addition of Oregon and Washington to the Conference, the original opponent schedules that were released in June for the 2024 and 2025 seasons have been amended.
USC's 2024 conference home opponents will be Nebraska, Penn State, Rutgers and Wisconsin. The Trojans' Big Ten Conference away games will include Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Washington and UCLA.
In 2025, USC will face Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern and UCLA at home, and will travel to challenge Illinois, Nebraska, Oregon and Purdue.
The Trojans will welcome Maryland, Ohio State, Oregon and Washington to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in 2026, and will visit Indiana, Penn State, Rutgers, Wisconsin and UCLA.
USC's 2027 home schedule will feature Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin and UCLA. The Trojans will travel to Iowa, Maryland, Ohio State and Washington that same season.
The 2028 home slate will include games against Iowa, Nebraska, Penn State and Purdue, while trips to Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Oregon and UCLA will be on the calendar.
The 2024 Big Ten football season will debut the Flex Protect Plus model, which features a combination of protected opponents and rotating opponents for universities. Each member institution will play nine intraconference games per season, and teams will play each Conference opponent at least twice – once home and once away – in a five-year cycle.
Conference schedules will include 12 protected matchups that will continue to be played annually and feature a combination of historic and geographic rivalries, as well as trophy games.
The crosstown rivalry of USC and UCLA will be a guaranteed annual protected matchup.
The 2024 season will conclude with the annual Big Ten Football Championship Game, which will feature the top two teams in the overall conference standings at the end of the regular season, with the winner earning the Big Ten Championship. Tiebreaking procedures will be announced at a later date.
The game dates for the 2024 football schedule will be announced later this year.
USC is 75-30-3 all-time against current opponents from the Big Ten Conference, and leads its series with 11 out of the 12 opponents it has faced.
USC is 11-2 against Illinois and 7-3 against Iowa. The Trojans are 6-4 against Michigan, 6-1 versus Wisconsin and 5-0 against Northwestern. USC is 6-4 versus Penn State, 3-1 against Purdue and 4-0 versus Indiana. USC is tied 4-4 in its series with Michigan State, but is 3-0-1 versus Nebraska, 6-1-1 against Minnesota and 13-10-1 versus Ohio State.
The Trojans have never competed against Maryland or Rutgers.
USC holds a 51-30-4 series record over Washington, not including Troy's 2005 victory which was vacated due to NCAA penalty (original record: 52-30-4). The Trojans will welcome the Huskies to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum this season on Nov. 4 for their final contest in the Pac-12 Conference.
Troy holds a 38-22-2 series record over Oregon, not including USC's 2005 victory which was vacated due to NCAA penalty (original record: 39-22-2). The Trojans will travel to Eugene, Ore. to challenge the Ducks this season on Nov. 11.
USC leads its series with crosstown rival UCLA 50-33-7, not including Troy's 2004 and 2005 victories that were vacated due to NCAA penalty (original record: 52-33-7). Most recently, Lincoln Riley's Trojan squad defeated the Bruins 48-45 in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. during the 2022 season. The Trojans are scheduled to face the Bruins this season on Nov. 18.
