No. 24 USC Women's Volleyball Drops Four-Set Fight to No. 6 Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. – The 24th-ranked USC women's volleyball team (18-11, 12-7 Pac-12) was defeated in four sets (25-14, 24-26, 25-16, 25-22) to No. 6 Oregon (25-5, 15-4) at Matthew Knight Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 21.

- Fr. OH London Wijay recorded 11 kills and 11 digs for her sixth double-double of the season.
- Jr. S Mia Tuaniga put up 34 assists to go with eight digs, four kills, a block, and a service ace.
- So. MB Tyrah Ariail scored nine kills (4e, 21att, .238) with three blocks (one solo), and two service aces.
- Sr. MB Lindsey Miller had seven kills (3e, 18att, .222) and a block.
- So. LIB Gala Trubint put up 16 digs with three assists for her 45th-career match in double-digit digs.
- For the Ducks, Morgan Lewis led all players with 19 kills (2e, 35att, .486) to go with four blocks. Kara McGhee had seven blocks and eight kills. Hannah Pukis put up 47 assists and had 15 digs for the double-double.
- The Trojans led, 6-4, in the first set, but the Ducks ripped through a 13-0 run on serves by Pukis to build an 11-point lead at 17-6 and cruised to a 25-14 win despite a comeback bid from the Trojans that included a 4-0 run. Oregon collected 11 kills in the opening set and hit .346 to outpace USC's 10 kills on .026 hitting. The Ducks also had the 16-12 edge in digs.
- Both teams had 14 kills in the second set but USC out-hit Oregon, .229 to .211, and overcame four Duck blocks with a 17-14 dig advantage in floor defense and closed out a narrow 26-24 win to even the match at one set apiece. Wijay did most of her damage in the second frame with seven kills on 15 swings to go with four digs.
- The Ducks regained their footing to get a 25-16 win in the third for a 2-1 lead in the match. Mimi Colyer led all players with six kills and Lewis added four of her kills in the frame. Trubint had six digs for the Trojans.
- USC held a late lead, 21-20, in the fourth, but Oregon scored points on five of the last six rallies to close out a 25-22 win for the match. Ariail had four kills and the Trojans served up three aces, but the Ducks got seven kills from Lewis to help Oregon out-hit USC, .355 to .242.
- The Women of Troy return home to host crosstown rival UCLA (16-12, 8-10) at Galen Center for SENIOR NIGHT on Friday Nov. 24. The match will be shown live on Pac-12 Los Angeles with first serve set for 7 p.m. PT.
- USC fell to 56-20 all-time against Oregon, which includes a 28-8 mark in Eugene.
- The Trojans go to 58-15 all-time in the Beaver State.
- Oregon's win guarantees the Ducks will finish with at least a share of second place in the Pac-12 standings. USC can finish no higher than fourth and no lower than fifth.
