No. 3 USC Beach Volleyball Seals 3-2 Win Over No. 4 Seminoles

The Trojans’ top pair of Delaynie Maple and Megan Kraft improved to 10-0 on the season
MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. – The No. 3-ranked USC beach volleyball team (15-1) fought back from deficits on four courts to take out No. 4 Florida State (22-3) in the Trojans' second match at the East Meets West Invitational at the Manhattan Beach Pier on Friday, March 31. It was the fifth dual victory in a row for the Women of Troy as USC moves to 18-1 all-time on Manhattan Beach sand.
USC scored the first point of the dual from the No. 2 position where twin seniors Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse collected their 74th all-time victory together on a 21-19, 21-18 win over Audrey Koenig and Carra Sassack.
Florida State evened the score with a three-set win at pair four as Caitlin Moon and Raelyn White defeated USC's pair of junior Olivia Bakos and freshman Gabby Walker, 21-16, 19-21, 15-11.
The Seminoles went in front again, 2-1, with a three-set by their five pair of Alexis Durish and Makenna Wolfe. The duo defeated Trojan graduate students Jenna Johnson and Ashlyn Rasnick-Pope, 21-16, 16-21, 15-8.
USC equalized once more with a three-set win at the top spot where juniors Megan Kraft and Delaynie Maple completed a 15-21, 25-23, 15-13 win over Maddie Anderson and Paige Kalkhoff. The Trojans' No. 1 duo remained undefeated on the season with their 10th win together.
The dual-clinching point came from the No. 3 pair of graduate Madison Shields and freshman Madison White where they took out Anna Long and Jordan Polo, 18-21, 21-18, 15-11.
In a non-scoring exhibition match, senior Harper Hallgren and freshman Klaire VanDeusen split sets with Alex Hilton and Maddie Trusty. The Trojans dropped a close 25-23 first set but got a 21-12 win in the second frame.
USC is back in action on Saturday, April 1, with an 11 a.m. PT start against 11th-ranked Georgia State and will finish out the invitational against No. 16 Florida International at 3 p.m. Links to live scores can be found at USCTrojans.com.
