TEMPE, Ariz. - The 20th-ranked USC lacrosse squad (14-3, 9-1 Pac-12) got the job done on the road in the regular season finale, as it bested Arizona State (5-12, 3-7 Pac-12) 11-6 Apr. 28 in Tempe, Ariz.

KEY PLAYERS:

Four players posted three points in the outing, as junior Maggie Brown and junior Claudia Shevitz led the charge with hat tricks. Brown's seventh hat trick of the season puts her at eight for her career. For Shevitz, this is her fifth this season and her tenth in her career.
On the defensive side, graduate transfer Emma Wightman posted the most caused turnovers with two and added one draw control.
Junior goalie Kait Devir got the winning decision as she posted eight saves and only allowed six goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

USC owned the game's momentum from the beginning, as Vitale capitalized early with a goal less than a minute into the game. The Trojans would only expand their lead before the end of the first, as they grabbed three more. Included in that total were two goals from Brown, who scored at 4:32 and 1:31.
The second quarter was the scoring section of the game, as both teams posted four goals in the quarter. The second quarter hosted the most goals in the two matchups between the teams, as the two squads scored eight in both games. Brown's hat trick goal highlighted the second, as she stopped a 2-0 run by the Sun Devils to begin the quarter. USC would alternate goals with ASU before scoring the final two with a junior Shelby Tilton goal at 3:17 and an empty net goal from senior Ella Heaney at :36.
The third and fourth were dominated by defense, as the two teams only posted five combined goals.

UP NEXT:
The Trojans enjoy a first-round bye as the No. 1 seed and coast to the Pac-12 Tournament Semifinals, where they will play the winner of ASU and California at 4:30 p.m. May 4 at California Memorial Stadium in Berkeley, Calif.

GAME NOTES:

The Trojans have now taken home the Pac-12 regular season title five different times (2016, '17, '19, '22 and '23).
USC clinched the No. 1 seed in the Pac-12 tournament for the second time since the conference started playing lacrosse in 2018.
The Trojans are 36-10 in conference road games (18-6 in Pac-12; 18-4 in MPSF).
The Trojans are 40-11 all-time in Pac-12 games, with a 17-3 record in the conference over the past two years.
The Trojans improve to 110-18 all-time versus unranked opponents.
