No. 2 USC Beach Volleyball Scalds Sun Devils in 5-0 Sweep to Open Pac-12 North Invitational

The Trojans have won eight consecutive duals to improve to 18-1 overall
STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 2-ranked USC beach volleyball team (18-1) completed a 5-0 sweep of Arizona State (8-8) to open the Pac-12 North Invitational at the Sand Hill Courts and earned the Trojans their eighth straight dual victory.Â

The Trojans fired the first shot of the day with a win from the No. 4 position where freshman Delaney Karl and graduate Ashlyn Rasnick-Pope claimed a 21-16, 21-8 win over Rylie Kael and Sarah Waters for their 10th win of the season. Karl and Rasnick-Pope become the fourth Trojan pair to cross the double-digit wins mark this season.

USC went in front, 2-0, with a win at the No. 5 spot where freshman duo Mabyn Thomas and Gabby Walker claimed a 21-12, 21-13 win over Kate Fitzgerald and Kendall Whitmarsh.

Twin seniors Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse logged their seventh straight win to deliver the clinching point when they defeated Anya Pemberton and Ivey Weber at the No. 2 position. The Nourses improve to 15-3 on the season and picked up their 77th all-time victory.

USC tacked on a fourth point from the No. 3 pair where graduate Madison Shields and freshman Madison White went three sets with Taryn Ames and Sarah Waters to get a 19-21, 21-12, 15-11 win. It was the eighth straight win for the Shields-White duo which improved to 13-5.

The sweep went into the books with the Trojans' win at the top court when juniors Megan Kraft and Delaynie Maple collected their 12th win of the season on a 21-15, 21-14 victory over Lexi Sweeney and Kylie Wickley.

The Trojans improve to 13-2 all-time on the Farm and pick up their 135th all-time 5-0 sweep of an opponent. USC also goes to 111-0 all-time against unranked foes.

USC is back in action in the afternoon for their second match at the Pac-12 North Invitational and will take on Oregon (7-16) at 4 p.m. PT at the Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium. The match will be shown live on the Pac-12 Networks.
