Trojans break a pair of Gibb Pool records as USC remains undefeated in dual action.
LOS ANGELES – The No. 4 ranked USC women's swimming team emerged victorious on Saturday, Jan. 20, defeating Pac-12 rival Washington State 133.50 – 104.50 at Gibb pool in Pullman, Wash.
With the win, USC improves to 6-0 this year with another three duals remaining in the regular season.
The Trojans claimed both relays (200y medley, 200y freestyle) and three Women of Troy scored 18 points to lead all individual scorers.
USC sophomore Claire Tuggle smashed a Gibb Pool record as she clocked a 16:41.32 in the 1650y freestyle. Later, she'd claim the 100y freestyle in 50.67 to bring her point total to 18.
USC redshirt junior Caroline Famous captured both the 100y back (55.25) and 200y back (2:02.20), scoring 18 total points for the Women of Troy.
Senior Anicka Delgado won a pair of individual events, claiming both the 100y butterfly (53.15) and 50y freestyle (23.48).
Breaststroke specialist Kaitlyn Dobler clocked a 1:00.14 to break the Gibb Pool record and claim the 100y breast.
The Women of Troy will be in action again on Friday, Feb. 2 when USC hosts No. 9 Cal at 1 p.m. at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
