Audrey Nourse and Megan Kraft each recorded their 100th career victories in the Trojans’ 5-0 win over the Utes
TEMPE, Ariz. – The third-ranked USC beach volleyball team (9-2) took down Utah (6-6) by a 5-0 count in its first dual at the Pac-12 South Invitational at the Sun Devil Beach Volleyball Facility on Saturday, March 9.
The Women of Troy won their fifth straight dual and improved to 7-0 all-time in meetings with Utah. In 5-0 matches, the Trojans improved to 143-2 all-time and collected their fifth clean sweep of the season.
As the first match to finish, twin sisters Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse topped Rylee Johnson and Bella Vezzani, 21-13, 21-13, for their 99th win as a pair. On the other end of the dual, senior All-Americans Megan Kraft and Delaynie Maple took down Langley Griffin and Katie McAlister in straight sets, 21-18, 21-12, to improve to 10-1 on the season and to 38-4 all-time. Kraft herself also reached the 100-win plateau in her career and became the 15th Trojan to hit triple digits. Maple collected her 100th individual win last week in Los Angeles,
In between those matches, freshman Madison Goellner and sophomore Mabyn Thomas teamed up to take a 23-21, 21-11 win over Marissa Koch and Kylie Pitzak at the No. 4 position for a 2-0 lead in the dual. The clinching point came from the fifth pair when freshman Ashley Pater and graduate Ainsley Radell took out Milan Ray and Sonja Wessel, 21-9, 21-11. USC went up, 4-0, on a win at the No. 3 position where graduate Maddi Kriz and sophomore Madison White won, 21-15, 21-9, over Chloe Narancich and Lauren Sayre.
The Trojans have a long rest between duals and will return to the sand for an 8 p.m. MST (7 p.m. PT) match-up with No. 14 Washington later today (March 9). The dual will be shown live on Pac-12 Washington.
