USC's Efe Naipoglu Named MPSF Newcomer of the Week

LOS ANGELES – USC men's water polo freshman Efe Naipoglu (Istanbul, Türkiye/Notre Dame de Sion French HS) was chosen as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's Newcomer of the Week for the week of Sept. 29-Oct. 5, the league announced on Monday, Oct. 6.
The award is the first for Naipoglu and the fourth of the season for USC. He totaled three goals and had an assist for four points and added six steals in two road matches this past week. Naipoglu had a goal, an assist and one steal in a 14-10 win at No. 4 Stanford on Saturday and then followed that up with two goals and five steals at No. 2 Cal on Sunday.
The freshman driver has 15 goals and 15 assists on the season, and leads the Trojans with 18 steals.
The third-ranked Trojans (13-2, 1-1) opened MPSF play by going 1-1 on the road last week. USC has this coming week off before returning to action at home on Tuesday, Oct. 14 when the Trojans host Princeton.
