No. 12 USC Swimming Has Strong Showing During First Evening of NCAA Championship Meet

Trojans finish seventh in the 800y freestyle relay.
Federal Way, Wash. - No. 12 USC women's swimming wrapped up the first evening of action at the NCAA Championships with two All-American finishes at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. The Trojans picked up first team honors in the 800y freestyle relay and honorable mention honors in the 200y medley relay.
USC's medley quartet kicked off the evening with All-America Second Team honors as Caroline Famous, Kaitlyn Dobler, Minna Abraham and Vasilissa Buinaia combined to clock a 1:35.34 and touch 15th. Texas A&M just out touched the Women of Troy by .01 to finish 14th.
The Women of Troy closed out the evening with a trip to the podium as Abraham, Claire Tuggle, Macky Hodges and Ella Ristic turned in a season-best time of 6:54.45 for seventh in the 800y freestyle relay. USC last earned All-America First Team honors in the event in 2019, when Louise Hansson, Tatum Wade, Kirsten Vose and Laticia Transom finished third overall in a school record time of 6:52.13.
Through the first evening of competition, USC sits in 11th place with 28 points. Virginia and Stanford are tied for first with 74 points, followed by Florida in third with 60 points.
Action continues tomorrow at 10 a.m. PT with the first session of prelims. The morning will include the 500y freestyle, 200y IM and 50y freestyle.
