March 08, 2025 | Women's Beach Volleyball
The Trojans collected their 10th win and their fourth 5-0 sweep in a victory over Oregon
STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 3-ranked USC beach volleyball team (10-3) racked up a 5-0 sweep of Oregon (3-8) to start day two at the MPSF Midseason Rumble at Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium on Saturday, March 8.
It was the Trojans' fourth 5-0 sweep of the season and the team's 158th all-time. USC improves to 11-0 against the Ducks and goes to 25-5 in duals played in Northern California cities—including a 20-5 mark at Stanford.
USC employed two new pairings due to unavailable players but opened with a 1-0 lead when the veteran duo of sophomore Madison Goellner and junior Mabyn Thomas earned a 21-16, 21-18 win over Hanna Bjornson and Skylar Kelly at the No. 4 position. The Women of Troy went on top, 2-0, with a three-set win at the No. 2 position. There, sophomore Ashley Pater teamed with freshman Calla Tufto to take down Landree Coats and AJ Slojkowski, 21-9, 15-21, 15-12. It was Tufto's first-career collegiate win.
The dual-clinching point was delivered from the fifth pair when freshman Macy Bolyard and sophomore Jess Horwath collected a 21-19, 21-14 win over Kamilah Checani and Isabel Patterson. The win was also a first for Bolyard who had only previously played in exhibition action.
USC added a fourth point with a win at the No. 3 position where sophomore Delaney Karl and graduate Ella Larkin took a 21-13, 21-12 win over Gwen Fife and Alex Kriz. The Trojans' top pair of Zoey Henson and Madison White topped off the sweep with a 21-18, 21-10 win over Bella Gamache and Ella Tyus at the No. 1 position.
In a non-scoring exhibition match, junior Ava Brizard played her first collegiate match with sophomore Kaylee Young and claimed a 21-14, 21-18 win over Kendall Clark and Presley McCaskill.
The Women of Troy conclude the weekend against No. 5 Stanford at 2 p.m. PT. All duals at the MPSF Midseason Rumble will be streamed live on Big Ten Plus (B1G+) with individual court coverage available.
