The Women of Troy will face sixth-seeded Washington in a first-round dual on Wednesday, April 23
LOS ANGELES – The USC beach volleyball team (23-8) will be seeded third in the inaugural Mountain Pacific Sports Federation beach volleyball championship set to be held at Spiker Beach in Huntington Beach, Calif., the league announced on Sunday, April 20.
Â
The Women of Troy face sixth-seeded Washington (16-16) in the opening round at 9:30 a.m. PT on Wednesday (April 23). A win over the Huskies would move the Trojans into the winner's bracket semifinal to face either second-seeded Stanford (27-8) or seventh-seeded Oregon (8-18) in a 12:30 p.m. PT dual on Thursday (April 24).
Â
All duals leading to the title match will be shown live on Big Ten Plus (B1G+). The first-ever MPSF championship match is set for noon PT on Friday (April 25) and will be shown on Big Ten Network. The MPSF champion will receive the league's automatic berth into the NCAA championship set to be contested in Gulf Shores, Ala., May 2-4. The Women of Troy are the winners of each of the last four NCAA titles.
Â
The Trojans are coming off a narrow 3-2 loss to crosstown rival UCLA (29-4). The Bruins enter the MPSF tournament as the No. 1 overall seed. Seven of USC's eight losses have been 3-2 decisions all against teams ranked in the top 11 with four against foes ranked in the top five. The Trojans have earned 19 wins over ranked opponents including nine against the nation's top 10.
Â
While all seven MPSF teams take aim at the first-ever league crown, the Trojans own won five Pac-12 titles (2016, '17, '19, '22, '24) and are 24-7 all-time in conference tournament duals. USC was never seeded any lower than second in any of the Pac-12 championships.Â
