USC Men’s Tennis Selected to San Diego Regional
April 28, 2025 | Men's Tennis
LOS ANGELES – After falling in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Conference Tournament, USC men's tennis (14-10) continues the postseason with its selection to the San Diego Regional. The Trojans will open the NCAA tournament against former conference mate Arizona State (12-11) on the University of San Diego campus.
After missing the postseason last year, the Trojans return to the NCAA field as they have been to the postseason 16 of the last 17 years (excluding 2020, when no postseason tournament was held). USC will start in the first and second rounds hosted by San Diego and the winner of the four-team regional will move on to the super regionals, May 9-11. The final rounds will be played May 16-18 at Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
Since 1946 there has only been four years that the Trojans haven't made the NCAA tournament as a team. USC has won the most NCAA team titles in the nation at 21.
The San Diego Regional features two matchups: No. 6 seeded San Diego vs. UC Irvine/USC vs. Arizona State. The winners from the respective matchups will play each other in the regional finals with a bid to the super regionals on the line.
Senior Peter Makk and Karl Lee led the charge this season, as Makk went 14-7 while Lee went 18-8. Makk was a unanimous decision for All-Big Ten first-team honors after going 7-2 in conference play during the regular season. Joining him on the list of all-conference honors was freshman Nathan Trouve, who was selected as part of the Big Ten all-freshman team.
USC is one of eight Big Ten to take part in the 64-team tournament. Those schools include Ohio State, Michigan, UCLA, Washington, Illinois, Michigan State, and Nebraska.
