The Trojans swept the Huskies to move to 3-0 at the Best in the West in Laguna Beach

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. – The seventh-ranked USC beach volleyball team (19-6) collected a 5-0 sweep of No. 19 Washington (11-13) to open the Trojans' second day at the Best in the West event on Main Beach on Saturday, April 5.

The Women of Troy recorded the program's 161st all-time 5-0 sweep and improved to 12-0 in meetings with Washington.

USC scored the first point of the dual from court two where freshman Kennedy Coakley and sophomore Ashley Pater collected a 21-14, 21-16 win over Katarina Pantovic and Lauren Wilcock to avenge an early-season loss to the Husky duo. Coakley and Pater won their 15th straight match together and improved to 19-2 overall.

The Trojans moved in front, 2-0, when junior Delaney Karl and graduate Ella Larkin scored a 21-15, 21-17 win over Brooke Balue and Niki Egan at the No. 3 position to improve to 6-1 together.

USC's No. 1 pair of sophomore Zoey Henson and junior Madison White delivered the clinching point and improved to 17-5 on a 21-19, 21-19 win over Teila Allen and Jade Sadeiko at the top court.

The score moved to 4-0 when graduate Maya Gessner and junior Mabyn Thomas got a 21-11, 21-13 win over Karolina Majernikova and Sarah Wilcock at the No. 4 position; and the Trojans completed the sweep on a three-set win, 30-28, 17-21, 15-12, by sophomores Madison Goellner and Kaileigh Truslow over Hannah Doyle and Alina Urzua at the No. 5 position.

The Trojans close Best in the West with a dual against No. 16 North Florida (17-3) at 3 p.m. PT. Live scores are available at VolleyballLife.com.
