Attended La Jolla High School in La Jolla, Calif… 2018 San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team… 2018 San Diego Girls Volleyball First Team All-Eastern League… two-time team captain of the La Jolla High School Volleyball team… played for Matt Olson at the Wave Beach Volleyball Club… took first place at the AVP First Manhattan Beach Gold Event in 2019… claimed third at the U17 Open USAV Girls Indoor Volleyball Junior National Championships in 2019… member of the 2018 JVA Beach Volleyball Watch List… Silver Division BVCA National Champion… named one of Volleyball Magazine’s “Fab 30” in 2020… news editor for her high school newspaper… an honor student with a 4.0 cumulative GPA

Maya Lucia Gessner was born Feb. 27, 2002 in La Jolla, Calif.… daughter of Alexandra and Gerhard Gessner… has one sibling Luca… lists Laura Ludwig as her biggest sports hero because of her mindset and intensity on the court… her favorite USC athlete is April Ross due to her discipline and performance under pressure… she has always wanted to live in Germany and visit Brazil… enjoys spending time with loved ones, hiking, reading, yoga, reading, watching movies and going to the beach in her free time... would like to play professional beach volleyball and work in brand partnerships in the sports industry after graduation… completed her bachelor of arts in media studies at the University of California, Berkeley in 2024… pursuing a master’s of science in entrepreneurship and innovation at the USC Marshall School of Business.

- Recorded her first career win in her first collegiate match as she teamed with Kate Bierly to defeat Oregon's No. 4 pair, 21-4, 21-9 in the season opener in 2021
