
USC Men's Water Polo's Strahinja Krstic Earns Third MPSF Newcomer of the Week Award

The first-year Trojan totaled three goals, an assist, and two steals in a pair of road wins over ranked opponents this week
LOS ANGELES – USC men's water polo freshman Strahinja Krstić (Belgrade, Serbia/Savremena Gimazija) was chosen as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's Newcomer of the Week for the week of Sept. 22-28, the league announced on Monday, Sept. 29.

The award is the third for Krstić who was also chosen for the same honor back-to-back weeks (Sept. 1, Sept. 8). He totaled three goals and had an assist for four points and added a pair of steals in two road victories this week. He scored one goal in the Trojans' 14-7 win at No. 10 Pacific and had two goals, an assist, and a pair of steals in a 19-9 win over No. 8 UC Davis. Krstić now has 24 goals, eight steals, and three assists in 13 games as a collegian.

The third-ranked Trojans (12-1) open MPSF play at No. 4 Stanford (8-2) on Saturday (Oct. 4) and then meet No. 2 California (11-1) on Sunday (Oct. 5) this week. USC takes on the Cardinal in a 1 p.m. game on Saturday at the Avery Aquatic Center in Stanford, Calif., and then tangles with the Golden Bears at Spieker Aquatics Complex in Berkeley, Calif., at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Both games will be carried by overnght.com.
