Trojans open 2026 season 2-0 at Marks Stadium.
LOS ANGELES – No. 19 USC women's tennis opened the spring season with a pair of victories, defeating UC Santa Barbara, 4-1, and Loyola Marymount, 4-0, in a doubleheader Tuesday at David X. Marks Tennis Stadium.
With the wins, USC improves to 2-0 on the season. Although the Trojans won't return to Marks Stadium until March 14, the Women of Troy continue spring play this weekend with road matches at ASU on Jan. 18 and Arizona on Jan. 19.
In singles play, freshman No. 62 Eugenia Zozaya quickly put USC on the brink, cruising to a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win over Leroux on court four. Jana Hossam, ranked No. 16 nationally, followed with a strong 6-4, 6-1 victory over Youri on court one to give the Trojans a 3-0 lead.
UC Santa Barbara picked up its lone point on court five, where Lily Pradkin defeated freshman Dani Borruel, 6-2, 6-2. USC closed out the match on court six as sophomore Simone Kay secured a 6-3, 7-5 win over My-Ahn Holmes to seal the 4-1 decision.
USC wasted little time in singles play as Eugenia Zozaya picked up her second singles win of the day, defeating Anastasia Bozova, 6-2, 6-1, on court four to put the Trojans ahead 2-0. On court two, No. 95 ranked Immi Haddad followed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over LMU's Sofia Perovani.
The match was decided on court one, where Jana Hossam completed a perfect day in singles, posting a 6-3, 6-4 win over Lidia Gonzales to clinch the Trojans' second victory of the day. Singles matches on courts three, five, and six were abandoned, with USC leading on all remaining courts.
