Three Trojans reached double-digit kills in a four-set loss to the Wolverines
LOS ANGELES – The USC women's volleyball team (7-6, 1-2 Big Ten) fell in four sets (25-22, 18-25, 25-23, 25-23) to Michigan (10-4, 1-2 Big Ten) at Galen Center on Friday, Oct. 2.

- So.  OPP Abigail Mullen scored 16.0 points earned on 13 kills (6e, 28att, .250) and added four blocks with eight digs.
- Jr. MB Mia Tvrdy contributed 13.5 points on 11 kills (3e, 19att) to hit .421 with four blocks and two digs.
- RS Sr. OH Adonia Faumuina totaled 10 kills (3e, 29att) on 29 swings to hit .241 and had three blocks.
- RS Jr. MB Leah Ford had 11 points on seven kills (0e, 12att) to log a .583 hit rate with seven blocks and two digs.
- Fr. S Milly McGee put up 33 assists and had three kills, two digs, and a block.
- For the Wolverines, Ella Demetrician had a match-high 17 kills (9e, 46att, .174) while adding two service aces and a block. Cymarah Gordan tallied 16 kills (5e, 33att, .333) and had four blocks with two digs. Morgan Burke dished out 33 assists and had five digs with two of six Michigan service aces.
- USC hit .277 over Michigan's .245 but the Wolverines had more kills (60-54), assists (57-51), digs (81-76) and service aces (6-4). The Trojans totaled 12.0 blocks to Michigan's 8.5.
- The Wolverines won a competitive first set, 25-22, that saw 13 ties. Michigan capped the set with a 4-1 run. USC hit .128 to Michigan's .333 and the Trojans had 13 kills to the Wolverines' 14. Michigan overcame five service errors and capitalized on the Trojan's eight attack errors. Tvrdy led USC with four kills (.286) while Mullen and Ford added three kills each.
- The Trojans bounced back in set two with a 25-18 win. Tvrdy's slam down the middle gave USC its largest lead of the set at 20-12, prompting Galen Center to erupt. Mullen anchored with five kills and an ace to help lift the Trojans to .361 hitting (16k, 3e) on 36 swings. Tallying three blocks, USC held the Wolverines .156 hitting with 11 kills and six errors. Faumuina and Tvrdy had three kills apiece while Wijay contributed four digs.
- Michigan secured a hard-fought set three win, 25-23, to go up 2-1. Despite trailing by as many as six points, the Trojans battled to stay in it. Ford's kill tied the set at 19 and a back-row attack violation by Michigan gave USC its first lead of the set, 20-19. The Trojans hit .192 (9k, 4e) with three blocks and the Wolverines hit .200 (17k, 9e) with two blocks. Faumuina led USC with four kills, but Michigan got big contributions from Gordon (6) and Demetrician (4).
- Holding on in set four, the Wolverines picked up a 25-23 win to secure the match, 3-1. Despite a 10-2 Michigan run, USC continued to fight and stayed in the set. The Trojans hit .448 (16k, 3e) on 29 swings and recorded five blocks. The Wolverines hit .298 (18 k, 7e) on 38 swings while adding three aces and a block. Tvrdy and Mullen each had four kills. Gordon had five kills and Demetrician paced Michigan with six.
- USC hosts Michigan State (12-1, 2-1 Big Ten) at Galen Center on Sunday (Oct. 4) at 2 p.m. PT. The match will be shown on Big Ten Plus. The Spartans swept UCLA tonight.
- USC falls to 3-1 all-time against Michigan.
- The Trojans go to 235-67 (.778) all-time at Galen Center.
- USC head coach Brad Keller was absent from the sideline due to illness. Associate head coach Megan Moenoa served as USC's acting head coach.
