Four Trojans Earn Big Ten Track and Field Weekly Awards

All four athletes recognized earned a top-10 time in school history
LOS ANGELES – The USC track and field women's team swept all three Big Ten weekly awards while Garrett Kaalund picked up his second weekly award on the men's side, the Big Ten announced today.
Madison Whyte received Big Ten Women's Track Athlete of the Week, Ashley Erasmus earned Big Ten Women's Field Athlete of the Week and Oluwatosin Awoleye picked up her first ever weekly recognition as Big Ten Women's Freshman of the Week.
Garrett Kaalund earned Big Ten Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season following a historic performance in the 200m. His time of 20.12 broke the school record (20.26) set by Olympic champion Andre De Grasse in 2015. Kaalund took the top spot in the NCAA for the season and sixth for all-time. He is now the world leader for 2026 in the indoor 200m.
Coming off national recognition as NCAA Athlete of the Week, Madison Whyte earned conference honors for her NCAA-leading time of 50.82 in the indoor 400m. Whyte broke the facility record and recorded the second-fastest time in school history. Whyte ran a 50.21 split on the anchor leg of the women's 4x400m relay on the same day, securing the Women of Troy's first relay win of the season.
Ashley Erasmus earned the fourth weekly award of her career after recording the No. 2 mark in school history as the winner of women's shot put at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic. Her mark of 17.74m is a new indoor personal best and puts her at No. 8 in the NCAA this season.
Oluwatosin Awoleye put up an impressive time of 1:30.17 in her 600m debut at New Mexico, earning freshman conference honors. Her time secured her a win over upperclassmen from Big Ten foes UCLA and Iowa and got her within striking distance of the school and freshman record of 1:29.25.
