The announcement comes on the heels of Davidson's sixth career Big Ten Freshman of the Week Honor yesterday.
INDIANAPOLIS — USC freshman guard Jazzy Davidson continues to collect national honors, earning her third U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) National Freshman of the Week award of the season, following another standout all-around performance for the Trojans.
Davidson earns the national recognition after another complete performance in USC's 79-73 victory over Indiana, where she poured in a team-high 24 points while playing all 40 minutes. She added six rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks, converting a career-high eight free throws in key moments down the stretch.
Including the six points generated off her assists, Davidson accounted for 30 of USC's 79 points in the win.
The outing marked her 24th double-figure scoring performance of the season and extended her streak to 22 consecutive games in double figures. Her 24-point effort was also her 10th 20-point game of the year, underscoring the consistency and production that have defined her freshman campaign.
Davidson continues to pace the Trojans across the stat sheet, leading USC in scoring (17.2 ppg), rebounds (6.3 rpg), assists (4.4 apg), steals (1.9 spg) and blocks (2.2 bpg). She also tops the team in minutes played (34:20) and leads in free throws made, free throw attempts, field goals made and field goal attempts per game.
This latest national honor adds to an already decorated season for the Clackamas, Ore., native, who has also earned six Big Ten Freshman of the Week selections and continues to be recognized on multiple national award watch lists.
With her third USBWA Freshman of the Week nod (most amongst Division I newcomers), Davidson continues to elevate her historic debut season and solidify her standing as one of the most impactful freshmen in the country.
