USC's Jazzy Davidson Collects Fifth Big Ten Freshman of the Week Award

Davidson powered USC to a 2-0 road week behind career-level production
ROSEMONT, Ill. - USC freshman Jazzy Davidson has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season, the conference announced Monday, Feb. 9. Davidson turned in another dominant two-game stretch that powered USC to road wins over Northwestern and Illinois.
The Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor marks Davidson's fifth such recognition of the season, further cementing her place among the nation's most impactful newcomers.
Davidson was instrumental in USC's 83-65 victory at Northwestern, posting a team-high 21 points to go along with six assists, three rebounds, two steals and one block. The freshman accounted for 38 total points in the win, scoring 21 herself while assisting on six baskets that led directly to 17 additional points for the Trojans.
She followed that performance with a career night against Illinois, pouring in a career-best and team-leading 27 points in USC's 72-60 road win. Davidson added eight rebounds, eight assists, one steal, one block and accounted for 47 total points (assisting on eight baskets). She was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line, grabbed four offensive rebounds and set career highs in both field goals made (11) and field-goal attempts (24).
Davidson continues to anchor USC's lineup, leading the Trojans in points (16.9), rebounds (6.3), assists (4.4), blocks (2.2) and minutes played (34:06).
The freshman has recorded 23 double-figure scoring games this season, including 21 consecutive games dating back to Nov. 18, and has posted nine 20-point performances, scoring 20 or more points in four of USC's last six games.
Davidson and the Trojans continue Big Ten Conference play on Thursday, Feb. 12 as the Trojans host Indiana for a 7 p.m. game at the Galen Center.
