Trojans remain unbeaten in conference play
EAST LANSING, Mich. — No. 8 USC women's tennis stayed perfect in Big Ten play with a commanding 4-0 road sweep of Michigan State on Saturday at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center. The Trojans improved to 12-4 overall, extending their conference unbeaten streak with another dominant showing.Â
USC secured the early advantage by taking the doubles point, highlighted by convincing wins from the pairs of Jana Hossam/Emma Charney and No. 48Â Lily Fairclough/Krisha Mahendran.Â
That momentum carried seamlessly into singles play, where the Trojans wasted little time asserting control across the lineup. Emma Charney delivered a statement performance at the No. 3 spot with a decisive 6-3, 6-0 win, while Eugenia Zozaya followed with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 2 to put USC on the brink of clinching.
The final point came from sophomore Simone Kay, who sealed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 6 position over Parkins-Godwin. Several other matches, including a ranked showdown featuring No. 24 Jana Hossam, were left unfinished as USC had already secured the result.Â
The Trojans return to play tomorrow against Michigan at noon ET (9 a.m. PT).Â
