No. 22 USC Men's Tennis Powers Past Indiana 4-3

Trojans go the distance with the Hoosiers to come out with the win.
Bloomington, Ind. — No. 22 USC men's tennis battled through a tightly contested match on Sunday, claiming a 4–3 victory over No. 46 Indiana at the IU Tennis Center.  After dropping the doubles point, the Trojans rebounded in singles to down the Hoosiers.Â
Indiana opened the match by securing the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. USC's pair of Max Exsted and Nathan Trouve delivered the lone doubles victory for the visitors, defeating Facundo Yunis and Braeden Gelletich 6–3 on court three, but the home side claimed the early 1–0 advantage.Â
USC responded strongly in singles play, winning four matches to clinch the comeback. Andrin Casanova quickly evened the score with a 6–3, 6–3 win over Michael Andre at the No. 4 position. Branko Djuric followed with a straight-set 6–2, 7–5 victory over Sam Landau on court one to give USC its first lead of the match.Â
After Indiana tied the score with a win on court six, Nathan Trouve reclaimed momentum for USC with a gritty three-set battle at No. 2. Trouve outlasted Jip van Assendelft 7–6 (11–9), 4–6, 6–1 in a match that featured a marathon opening-set tiebreak.Â
Indiana again leveled the match with a victory on court five, setting up a decisive result on court three. There,freshman Max Exsted rallied after dropping the first set to defeat Facundo Yunis 3–6, 7–6 (7–2), 6–1, sealing the 4–3 victory for USC.Â
With the win, USC improves to 10–3 overall on the season and 2-0 in Big Ten play.Â
