USC Men's Volleyball's Dillon Klein Earns Fourth All-MPSF Selection

Middle blocker Wesley Smith was chosen to the All-MPSF Second Team
LOS ANGELES – USC men's volleyball senior outside hitter Dillon Klein (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Loyola HS) was chosen to the MPSF all-conference first team and redshirt sophomore middle blocker Wesley Smith (Encinitas, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS) was named to the second team, the league announced on Tuesday, April 21.
Freshman opposite hitter Cooper Keane (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) was selected to the MPSF All-Freshman Team.
Klein repeats his first-team selection from a season ago and becomes a four-time All-MPSF performer (second team in 2023, '24). Smith was named to the MPSF's All-Freshman Team in 2024. The duo is joined by three Trojans who received All-MPSF honorable mention. The three players are sophomore libero Johnny Dykstra (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS), sophomore outside hitter Sterling Foley (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona Del Mar HS), and sophomore middle blocker Parker Tomkinson (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS).
Klein was selected for MPSF/Molten Offensive Player of the Week three times this season (Feb. 2, Feb. 16, Apr. 6) and is a semifinalist for the AVCA's National Player of the Year award. He ranks second in the MPSF and in the NCAA for both kills (4.10 kps) and points (4.82 pps) and is fourth in the league for hitting percentage (.369) and 12th for service aces (0.34 saps). He has reached double-digit kills 19 times (80 of 100 career matches) and breached the 20-kill mark six times. Klein posted his fourth-career double-double with 24 kills and 10 digs in a win at UC Irvine (Feb. 11) and recorded a season-high 27 kills against Princeton (Jan. 16).
Smith ranks second in the MPSF for blocks (1.13 bps) which is seventh in the NCAA. He has reached double-digit kills five times and double-digit points six times this season. To date, Smith averages 1.64 kills per set with .503 hitting and puts up 2.39 point per set. He was chosen as the MPSF's Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 9.
Keane has played in 17 matches and started 11 for the Trojans. He averages 2.37 kills per set with .291 hitting and has produced 21 service aces and 22 blocks to average 3.05 points per set. Keane also averages 1.10 digs per set on defense. Keane has reached double-digit points in eight contests with five matches in double-digit kills.
Sixth-ranked USC (17-6) earned the third seed and takes on sixth-seed Vanguard (12-13) in the quarterfinals of the 2026 MPSF Tournament at Smith Fieldhouse in Provo, Utah. The Trojans and Lions meet for first serve at 1:30 p.m. MT (12:30 p.m. PT) on Wednesday, April 22, and will be shown live on Big Ten Plus. The four quarterfinal matches (April 22) and two semifinal matches (April 23) will be carried by Big Ten Plus. The MPSF championship match on Saturday (April 25) will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network with a 7 p.m. MT start. USC reached the title match a year ago but fell to tournament host Pepperdine in heartbreaking fashion at Firestone Fieldhouse. The Trojans are 17-21 all-time in MPSF tournament contests and seek their first league title since 2009.
