USC Women's Tennis Adds Omar El Kheshen as Assistant Coach

El Kheshen joins USC after helping develop Grand Slam champions and Ivy League standouts.
LOS ANGELES — USC women's tennis head coach Alison Swain has announced the hiring of Omar El Kheshen as the program's new assistant coach.
El Kheshen joins the Trojans with more than a decade of coaching experience across the professional and collegiate ranks, having worked with Grand Slam champions, WTA Tour professionals and nationally ranked NCAA programs. His resume includes coaching stints at Harvard, Tufts and Southwest Baptist, as well as extensive experience on the WTA Tour.
"I am thrilled to welcome Omar to our coaching team," Swain said. "He brings a wealth of player development experience from top WTA pro players to all levels of college tennis. Omar's passion for the game, strong communication skills and proven player development align with our program's commitment to being the place to be for elite athletics."
El Kheshen most recently served as the touring coach for Yuan Yue, helping guide the former world No. 36 on the WTA Tour while overseeing training plans, performance analysis and tournament preparation. He also serves as Academy Director at the Brian Dabul Academy in Glendale, Calif., where he oversees player development and academy operations.
From 2023-24, El Kheshen coached former U.S. Open champion and former world No. 3 Sloane Stephens, developing match preparation strategies and working alongside a full performance team throughout the WTA Tour.
Before returning to professional tennis, El Kheshen spent four seasons coaching in the college ranks. He was an assistant coach at Tufts during the 2022-23 season, helping the Jumbos post a 22-0 start, reach the NCAA Division III championship match and produce the NCAA singles champion and three All-Americans. Prior to Tufts, he spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Harvard, where he helped recruit one of the nation's top recruiting classes and contributed to the Crimson's rise in the national rankings. He also served as associate head coach for the men's and women's programs at Southwest Baptist from 2018-19, helping lead the men's team to the NCAA Elite Eight and earning ITA Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors in 2018.
A native of Egypt, El Kheshen began his coaching career at Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai, Calif., where he developed elite junior players and helped guide numerous student-athletes into NCAA Division I programs. He holds a bachelor's degree in marketing and a master's degree in athletic activity administration from Southwest Baptist University and has earned multiple professional coaching certifications, including Global Professional Tennis Coach Association Level B certification.
