Jasmine Koo and Bailey Shoemaker Make Preseason ANNIKA Award Watch List

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Junior Jasmine Koo and senior Bailey Shoemaker of the USC women's golf team made the Preseason ANNIKA Award Watch List, as announced by the organization Thursday.
The duo was two of 25 players on the initial watch list for the ANNIKA Award, which is the most prestigious individual award in collegiate golf. USC is one of four schools with multiple players on the Preseason ANNIKA Award Watch List. Stanford leads the way with three honorees, while Texas and Texas A&M also have two players on the list.
Koo and Shoemaker are both coming off arguably the best seasons of their collegiate careers. The All-Americans will lead a Trojans team expected to be one of the top teams in women's college golf despite losing program leader Catherine Park to graduation.
Earning First Team All-American honors for the second consecutive year, Koo became USC's career wins leader with eight titles after winning four titles last season. She not only helped USC win its first-ever Big Ten title, but also became the first Trojan to become a Big Ten champion. She ended the season by winning three of the last five tournaments in which she played, then capped off the season by placing 11th at the NCAA Championships for her best postseason finish. Koo had 10 top 25 finishes and seven top 10 finishes and ranked second on the team with 20 rounds under par and 16 rounds in the 60s.
Despite coming off a near-career-ending injury that made her miss the entire fall season, Shoemaker earned her first career All-American honors after her best collegiate season. Shoemaker was an All-Big Ten First Team selection and was tied for the runner-up at the conference tournament — one of three runner-up finishes she had all season. Shoemaker placed in the top 25 in all nine tournaments in which she played, plus she had six consecutive top-10 finishes midway through the spring. Along the way, she tied her career-best tournament score with a 207 (-9) total at the Chevron Silverado Showdown, plus she tied her career-low round of 65 twice. She tied for 23rd at the NCAA Championships, giving USC three top-25 finishers.
Established in 2014, the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel, is given to the top player in women's collegiate golf. Media members, current Division I golfers, coaches and sports information directors vote on this prestigious award, which is the top individual award in women's collegiate golf. Both Koo and Shoemaker are vying to be the first Trojan to win this award.
