Kevin McMahon Returns To USC As Assistant Diving Coach

Kevin McMahon returns to the University of Southern California as Assistant Diving Coach, bringing more than three decades of experience as both an elite athlete and accomplished coach. A five-time NCAA All-American, McMahon competed for the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Louisiana State University before training under legendary U.S. Olympic coach Dr. Ron O'Brien at the Fort Lauderdale Diving Team. During his competitive career, he earned National Champion and World Cup Champion titles while establishing himself among the nation's top divers.
McMahon first joined the USC diving program in 1998, relocating to Southern California to serve as Assistant Diving Coach under former head coach Jeff Shaffer. During his two seasons with the Trojans (1998–99), he helped develop NCAA champions, U.S. National Champions, and Olympians while contributing to one of the nation's premier collegiate diving programs. As a Trojan Dive Club member McMahon won another National Championship title while contributing to two US National Team Titles.
After the 2000 Olympic season, McMahon retired from competitive diving but to the sport in 2002 to pursue another Olympic run under current USC Head Diving Coach Hong Ping Li. Reuniting with longtime synchronized diving partner and former USC NCAA Champion Brian Earley, the pair captured silver medals in 3-meter synchronized diving at the USA Diving National Championships in both 2003 and 2004. McMahon and Earley had previously won the 1995 World Cup together.
Today, McMahon returns to USC with a unique perspective as an NCAA All-American, National Champion, World Cup Champion, elite international competitor, and collegiate coach. His championship experience, technical expertise, and passion for athlete development continue to shape the next generation of Trojan divers.
