USC Cross Country’s Monserrat Santillan Silva Places Fourth Overall at UC Riverside Invitational

Three Trojans debuted at the collegiate 5k distance.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The USC cross country team recorded two top-25 individual finishes and achieved 11th out of 32 scoring teams in the women's open 5k at the UC Riverside Invitational.

Monserrat Santillan Silva was the top scorer of the day for the Women of Troy, finishing in fourth place in a time of 17:58.3.

Ivanka Malysheva came in next for the Trojans in a time of 18:25.6, placing 22nd in her first collegiate 5k. Sticking by her side for the majority of the race was Paige Unger, running a time of 18:34.6 to place 33rd.

Next to cross the finish line was Alexandra Sparno exactly a minute after Unger to finish in 116th in a time of 19:34.4. Bella Duarte came in shortly thereafter at 21:12.7 to wrap the strong showing for the Women of Troy in 228th place.

USC Cross Country returns to the race course in two weeks with the Master's University Invite on Oct. 3. The women's 6k is set for 8:45 a.m. with live results available on usctrojans.com and updates available on Instagram and X @usc_track_field.
