2017-18 SEASON: Gabby Smith enters her senior season at USC.
2016-17 SEASON: Gabby Smith finished her junior season ranked No. 29 in the nation in singles and No. 54 in the nation in doubles with her partner, Zoë Katz…Reached the Second Round of the NCAA Singles Draw…Named to the All-Pac-12 First Team…Selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team and member of USC’s ITA All-Academic Team…Won Pac-12 Player of the Week honors three times to make her the most decorated Pac-12 women’s tennis player in regards to this award in 2017…Finished the season 23-9 in singles and went 16-8 in dual matches…Played primarily in the No. 2 position (11-1)…Also played at the No. 1 position (5-7)…Had two clinching wins: Colorado and at UCLA where she secured an exciting 4-3 upset over the Trojans’ crosstown rival…In doubles, went 18-8 with partner Zoë Katz…Played primarily at the No. 2 position (10-3), but also played at No. 1 (0-4)…Paired with Angela Kulikov (3-1), Madison Westby (0-2) and former Trojan Jessica Failla (1-1)…In the Fall, Smith competed at the UNLV Invitational, ITA All-American Championships and the National Collegiate Tennis Classic where she reached the championship match…Entered her junior season ranked No. 93 in singles and No. 33 in doubles.
2015-16 SEASON: Gabby Smith finished her sophomore season ranked No. 6 in the nation in doubles with partner Giuliana Olmos and was named a 2016 ITA All-American in doubles…Also finished the season ranked No. 84 in the nation in doubles with partner Jessica Failla…Reached the NCAA doubles Round of 32 with partner Giuliana Olmos…Named an All-Pac-12 honorable mention…Earned placement on the ITA All-Academic Team as well as ITA Scholar Athlete honors...Selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic second team…Won the Oracle/ITA Masters doubles championship with Giuliana Olmos…Named the USC Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Week on Sept. 21...Went 19-10 overall in singles, going 10-5 in dual matches…Played primarily in the No. 3 position (5-2)…Also played at No. 4 (5-1) and No. 2 (0-2)…Had the clinching win in one dual match (Washington)…In doubles, went 25-12 overall with a 10-5 mark in dual matches…Was 19-9 overall and 10-5 in dual matches with Giuliana Olmos…Also went 5-2 overall with Jessica Failla and 1-1 overall with Alex Letzt…In the fall, competed in the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, ITA Southwest Regional, Freeman Memorial and the ITA National Indoors….Entered her sophomore season ranked No. 59 in the nation in singles in the ITA pre-season rankings.
2014-15 SEASON: Smith finished her freshman season ranked No. 82 in the nation in singles... Named an ITA Scholar-Athlete... Went 3-0 in singles at the No. 5 position and 2-1 in doubles at the No. 3 spot with Madison Westby during the NCAA Team Tournament... Went 30-12 overall in singles, going 16-6 in dual matches... Played primarily at the No. 5 position (6-2)... Also played at No. 4 (5-2), No. 3 (4-2) and No. 2 (1-0)... Had the clinching singles win in four dual matches... In doubles, went 26-13 overall with a 16-8 mark in dual matches... Was 16-9 overall and 15-6 in dual matches with Westby... Also went 9-2 with Giuliana Olmos, and paired with Zoë Katz (0-1) and Meredith Xepoleas (1-1)... Named Pac-12 Player of the Week on April 6... In the fall, won the ITA Southwest Regional Doubles Championship with Olmos... Also won the Kramer Club doubles title with Olmos and competed in ITA/Riviera All-American prequalifying... HIGH SCHOOL: Smith was named an All-American as a senior out of Coronado High in Henderson, Nev.... Was ranked in the top-10 in the nation... Earned three Silver Balls and four Bronze Balls... Was the Nevada 4A individual champion as a freshman.
PERSONAL: Gabrielle Smith was born Jan. 14, 1996 in Long Beach, Calif.... Daughter of Greg Smith... Has three siblings, Mitchell, Samantha and Madison... Enjoys hanging out with her friends, boating, tubing, wakeboarding, skiing and playing indoor soccer in her free time... Has always wanted to skydive... Hopes to travel to Greece...Majoring in accounting.
