THIS YEAR:
Graduate student Tracy Towns is in her first season as a distance runner on the USC track and field and cross country teams. She graduated in 2023 from Illinois with a degree in Accountancy.Â

BEFORE USC: Towns competed from 2019-23 at Illinois, where she was a two-time All-Big Ten second team honoree. She set an 800m PR of 2:06.79 in the prelims at the 2023 Big Ten Championships and placed fifth in the final on May 14…that time moved her to ninth on the Illini all-time outdoor 800m list. She set her 1500m PR of 4:28.10 to take fourth at the 2023 Gary Wieneke Memorial. In the 2023 indoor season, Towns ran on Illinois’ DMR team which ran 11:13.87 to place third at the Big Ten Indoor Championships with the program’s third-fastest time in school history. She ran on the school’s record-setting DMR which posted a time of 11:03.41 and placed second at the 2022 Big Ten Championships. She won the 800m with a time of 2:10.09 at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational.  In cross country, she posted her 5K and 6K PRs last season, running 18:25.5 at the 5K Illini Open on Oct. 21, 2022 and 22:23.00 at the 6K Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 30, 2022. She was a Dean’s List student from 2019-23 and was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.

Towns is a 2019 graduate of Shaftesbury High School in Winnipeg. Her high school best 800m time was 2:09.69.

PERSONAL:
Tracy was born on March 5, 2001 in Winnipeg, Canada…Her parents are Shiyan Wang and Grant Towns and she has one sister, Tara…Her hobbies include hot yoga, hiking and traveling…Lists her favorite foods as sushi and ice cream…Someday would like to travel to Thailand and Hong Kong…She is working on a Master of Accountancy at USC.
