THIS SEASON: Laurens Verboven is in his final season at USC... Went 6-2 in singles play during the fall... Won the Oracle Masters ITA Singles Championship and finished the fall with his highest career singles ranking at No. 19 in the nation... Also entered the fall with his highest career doubles ranking at No. 3 with Jack Jaede.
2017-18: Verboven finished his junior campaign as an ITA All-American in doubles after closing the season ranked No. 10 in the nation in doubles with partner Jack Jaede... Also earned All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention... Highest career doubles rank was No. 7 with Jaede on April 24... Was second on the team in singles wins with a 22-13 overall record overall, going 14-7 in dual matches... Played at the No. 2 (0-1), No. 3 (6-4), No. 4 (7-2) and No. 5 (1-0) positions... Won all three singles matches he played at the No. 4 position during the NCAA Team Tournament, finishing the season on a seven-match singles win streak... In doubles, went 38-9 overall, going 20-6 in dual matches... Was 30-8 overall with Jaede, going 20-6 in dual matches playing at the No. 1 (3-2), No. 2 (16-4) and No. 3 (1-0) positions... Also went 2-1 overall with Logan Smith, 0-1 with Riley Smith, and 6-0 with Tanner Smith... Jaede and Verboven twice went on eight-match win streaks and carried a 10-match streak into the NCAA Team Quarterfinals... Earned 5-8 seed in the NCAA Doubles field, falling in the Round of 32... Jaede and Verboven won the Sherwood Cup and Pacific Coast Doubles championships... In the fall, Verboven reached the ITA Southwest Regional singles Round of 16 and won the SoCal Intercollegiate and Jack Kramer Collegiate doubles titles with Tanner Smith.
2016-17: Verboven finished his sophomore season ranked No. 73 in the nation in doubles with partner Nick Crystal... Highest career doubles rank came in opening the season at No. 10 with Crystal on Sept. 13... Had the clinching singles win in two dual matches... Went 7-3 overall in singles, going 3-0 in dual matches... Went 2-0 at the No. 5 position and 1-0 at No. 4... In doubles, went 25-9 overall with a 19-5 mark in dual matches... Was 24-7 overall and 18-5 in dual matches with Crystal, going 17-5 on court two... Also paired with David Laser (1-1) and Henry Ji (0-1).
2015-16 SEASON: Verboven joined the Trojans in the spring... Finished his first season at USC ranked No. 30 in the nation in doubles with Nick Crystal, marking Verboven’s highest career rank... Went 4-9 overall in singles, going 3-6 in dual matches... Went 1-3 at the No. 6 position... Also appeared at No. 2 (1-0), No. 3 (0-2), No. 4 (1-0) and No. 5 (0-1)... In doubles, Went 14-11 overall with Crystal, going 9-9 in dual matches at the No. 1 position... Won all three doubles matches with Crystal in the NCAA Team Tournament.
HIGH SCHOOL: Verboven attended Stedelijk Lyceum Topsport in Antwerp and competed for TC Lommel’s first team, playing in the First Division in Belgium... Was named 2013 Youngster of the Year in Lommel... Was a five-time Flemish individual champion... Also was Belgian individual champion... Won seven team Belgian titles in at the youth club level and one team championship at the senior level... Has also competed for the Belgian National Team at Summer and Winter Cups... Participated in European Championships... Also played on the Junior Davis Cup team for Belgium.
PERSONAL: Laurens Verboven was born June 10, 1997 in Lommel, Belgium... Parents are Stefan and Silvia... Has one brother, Maxim... Says beating Spaniard Oriol Roca Batalla at a recent Futures event was his most thrilling sports moment... Enjoys spending time with friends and family in his free time... Lists Roger Federer as his biggest sports hero... Hopes to play tennis professionally after graduation... Majoring in international relations.
