THIS SEASON: Mateusz Smolicki enters his first season at USC.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended the Institute of International Relations and American Studies and the Sopot Academy of Tennis in Sopot, Poland… Captured three ITF juniors doubles titles and three futures doubles titles… Achieved a best ATP singles ranking of 1885 and a best ATP doubles ranking of 485… Won two Polish championships in doubles and one Polish championship in mixed… Won two winter Polish team championships… Played four years of club tennis at KS Warszawianka.
PERSONAL: Mateusz “Matt” Smolicki was born Oct. 10, 1997 in Warsaw, Poland… Parents are Grzegorz and Adnieszka Smolicki… Enjoys playing instruments, listening to music and go karting in his free time… Lists Roger Federer as his biggest sports hero… Favorite TV shows include Sons of Anarchy and Shameless… Chose to attend USC because of its academic reputation, excellence in sports and to be part of one of the best tennis programs in the country… Hopes to become a professional tennis player or a professional skier upon graduation, and later expand his father’s business… Majoring in economics.
