A two-time All-American at USC, Marko Vavic has been named to the U.S. Olympic Team for the 2024 Paris Games This will be his second Olympic Games, as he helped Team USA finish in sixth place at the 2020 Games in Tokyo.
2020-21: In a year impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Vavic did not compete for USC in the spring 2021 season in order to compete overseas and train with the U.S. National Team in preparation for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.... Competed for Roma in the Serie A1 league in Italy.
2019: Vavic did not compete in the 2019 season.
2018: Vavic landed on the All-America Second Team and All-MPSF First Team in his sophomore season... Was third on the team in scoring with 57 goals... Named to the NCAA All-Tournament Second Team... Scored one goal in the NCAA Championship game... Scored in a team-high 28 games with 17 multiple-goal outings... Scored 11 goals vs. top-5 opponents... Set new career high with five goals against Concordia on Sept. 9.
2017: Vavic earned All-America Second Team honors and All-MPSF Honorable Mention as a true freshman... Named to NCAA All-Tournament First Team... Was the team’s top scorer with 51 goals... Named MPSF Newcomer of the Week three times... Scored in 24 games with 18 multiple-goal outings... Set career high with back-to-back four-goal games on Sept. 29 at the Lancer Invitational... Scored four goals at the MPSF Tournament, including a hat trick in the semifinal... Also had a hat trick in the NCAA semifinal game.
NATIONAL TEAMS: A 2020 Olympian with Team USA, Vavic is a member of the U.S. National Team... Has competed for Team USA at four World Championships (2019, 2022, 2023, 2024)... Helped USA to bronze at the 2024 World Cup... Won gold at the 2019 Pan American Games, where he scored 10 goals for the USA... Scored two goals at the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest... Won a silver medal with Team USA at the 2017 FINA Men’s Intercontinental Tournament in Australia… Competed for the U.S. Youth National Team at the Youth World Championship in 2016 and was the second leading scorer on the team… Won silver at the 2015 UANA Youth Pan American Championship in 2015.
HIGH SCHOOL: Vavic was a two-time All-CIF first team selection at Loyola High in Los Angeles... Reached CIF semifinals in 2015 and 2016... Also was CIF Division 1 champion in swimming as a junior and was runner-up as a senior... Twice named to all-league first team… Named Mission League MVP and Defensive MVP… Was Loyola High School Athlete of the Year in 2017.
PERSONAL: Vavic earned his USC degree in business... Parents are Jovan and Lisa... Has three siblings, Monica, Nikola, and Stefan... Monica and Nikola also played water polo at USC and were All-Americans and NCAA champions during their Trojan careers... Stefan also was on the USC water polo team and currently is competing and pursuing a master’s degree at Pacific... Enjoys surfing, skateboarding, and watching movies and TV… Names Allen Iverson as his biggest sports hero… Hopes to travel after graduation to Paris, the Swiss Alps and the Bahamas… Born April 25, 1999.
