2020: Hansson followed up her colossus 2019 junior season with a stellar senior season, winning three conference titles and earning 7 CSCAA All-American honors … She was tabbed the 2020 Pac-12 Women’s Swimmer of the Year and was also USC’s women’s recipient for the Pac-12 Tom Hansen Conference Medal … Before the event’s cancellation, Hansson was set to defend her NCAA crowns in the midst of another successful season … she was the top seed in the 200y fly (1:51.26), third in the 100y fly (49.94) sixth in the 200y free (1:43.01), eighth in the 200y IM (1:54.09) and 12th in the 100y free (47.82) going into the 2020 NCAA Championship … At the 2020 Pac-12 Championships, Hansson won her fourth straight title in the 100y fly in a 49.94, her eighth career sub-50 second performance in the event, making her the first Pac-12 woman to win the 100y fly four consecutive years. Hansson posted a 1:51.26 in the 200y fly, the fastest time in the country for the season, winning her second conference title in the event in two years. She secured USC’s sixth Pac-12 200y IM title, touching in 1:54.67 … After becoming the first Trojan since Hosszu (2012) to win three Pac-12 titles in one season in 2019, she became the first Trojan to win three Pac-12 titles for two consecutive seasons in the 100y fly, 200y fly and 200y IM in 2020 … Hansson also helped the Trojans secure two conference relay titles … In the 800y free relay, USC posted the second fastest time in the country for the season (6:54.91) … to close out the final evening, Hansson contributed to the history-making 400y free relay win, helping USC secure its first conference relay title in the event in school history… Hansson was awarded the Swimmer of the Meet award after winning three individual titles and two relay titles (a Trojan record) … Earlier in the season, Hansson broke the pool record for the women’s 100m fly during day two of the Art Adamson Invite in College Station, Texas, posting a 58.14 … during finals, she finished the 100y fly with a then-season best 50.05, earning the first NCAA A-cut of the season for the Trojans … USC Marks Scholar honoree .... co-captain
2019: Hansson had a colossus 2019 junior season, winning two NCAA crowns (100y and 200y fly), three conference titles (100y and 200y fly, 200 IM) and later secured a berth in the 2020 Olympics (100m fly) … At the 2019 NCAA Championships, Hansson won her second straight title in the 100y fly by shattering her NCAA record with a 49.26, breaking the mark for the second time in a month. She clocked a modest 49.98 in prelims to become the first woman to break 50 seconds six times. She then made it seven in the final, lowering her own NCAA mark of 49.34 by 0.08 seconds. A day later, she won her first NCAA title in the 200y fly in 1:50.28, breaking her USC record by 0.40 while upsetting Stanford's two-time defending champion Ella Eastin by 0.18. It was USC’s first title in the race since Trojan great Katinka Hosszu won it in back-to-back years (2011-12). Hansson posted the second-fastest 200y IM in school history en route to a career-best fourth-place in 1:52.14. It was a personal best and just off Hosszu's school record (1:51.80). Hansson earned her first of four All-American honor of the session on the first night, leading USC to third place in the 800y free relay with a school record. She also helped USC’s 400y medley and free relays to consolation final wins … Hansson became the first Trojan since Hosszu (2012) to win three Pac-12 titles in one season when she swept the 100y and 200y fly and the 200y IM at the 2019 meet (she was just the seventh Trojan since 1986 to win three events). Hansson opened the meet with her first Pac-12 title in the 200y IM (1:52.50), lowering her best in the race by 1.22 seconds. She followed it by winning her third straight title in the 100y fly with an NCAA-breaking 49.34, lowering Kelsi Worrell’s (49.43) previous mark. Hansson became the first Pac-12 woman to win the 100y fly three consecutive years and she joined Stanford's Janel Jorgensen (1990, 1992-93) and Misty Hyman (1998-99, 2001) as the only women to win it three times overall. She then captured her first Pac-12 title in the 200y fly with a 1:50.68, a USC-record-swim that broke Hosszu’s 1:51.02. Hansson’s new time lasted only three weeks. Hansson also broke her own record in the 100y back by leading off USC’s Pac-12 400y medley relay with a 50.74 … Earlier in the season, Hansson swept the 100y (49.80) and 200y fly (1:51.52) at the Texas Invitational. She also won both races at the SMU Classic … In July, Hansson represented Sweden at the 2019 World Championships and clinched her second Olympic appearance by finishing a career-best seventh in the 100m fly with a 57.16. She was 0.09 out of fourth and 0.55 out of third but fast enough to qualify her for her second straight Olympic appearance. Hansson just missed a finals appearance in the 50m fly, taking 10th in 26.10. She was also 26th in the 50m back (29.12). In August, Hansson posted a win in the 100m fly (57.92) at the FINA World Cup race in Tokyo and was eighth in the 50m fly (26.42) … Hansson earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention honors.
2018: Hansson was a three-time All-American as a 2018 sophomore, her season highlighted by capturing USC’s first national title in the 100y fly with the then-second-fastest time ever (49.80) at the 2018 NCAA Championships. She complemented the win with a career-best third in the 200y fly (1:52.25) while leading USC’s 200y medley relay to seventh. Hansson became just the third woman ever to go under 50 seconds when she earned the top seed in the 100y fly prelims with a 49.90, then lowered it by 0.10 during her title swim. It was USC’s first NCAA individual swimming title since 2013 … Hansson defended her conference crown in the 100y fly at the 2018 Pac-12 Championships by setting a then-Pac-12 meet and USC records in 50.17 (after a 50.39 prelim effort). She was the first Pac-12 woman to repeat in the race since Stanford's Elaine Breeden (2009-10). Hansson finished second in the 200y fly in 1:51.13, just 0.11 off of Katinka Hosszu’s then-2011 school record, and also was part of four third-place relays … Hansson posted NCAA automatic times in five events as a sophomore, including a 21.69 in the 50y free at NCAAs and a 47.41 in the 100y free and a 1:41.81 in the 200y free, both at Pac-12s (all three coming in relay leadoffs). Her 1:51.13 in the 200y fly and Pac-12 record in the 100y fly (49.80) were also A cuts ... Hansson earned Swimmer of the Meet honors at the SMU Invite, leading USC to first at the meet with wins in the A heats of the 100y fly (51.56), 200y back (1:52.26) and 200y IM (1:55.80) … Hansson won twice at the USA College Challenge in the USC-hosted event pitting swimmers from the Pac-12 against current USA national teamers. She took first in the 100y fly in 51.28, 0.03 off Kendyl Stewart's pool record, and later won the 100y free in 47.57 to lower Anika Apostalon's pool mark by 0.21 … At the Texas Invitational, she won twice again in the 100y fly (50.41) and the 200y fly (1:53.79) and also helped USC to wins in both medley relays … At the 2017 European Short Course Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, she won silver as part of Sweden’s 200m free relay, swimming the third leg. She also reached the final of the 100m fly, taking fourth in 56.56, 0.34 out of third. She also reached the semifinals of the 100m free (53.19), finishing ninth … Hansson was named SwimSwam's Swimmer of the Month for October for her strong work at the SMU Classic and USA College Challenge … At the 2018 European Championships, she was a finalist in the 100m fly, finishing sixth (57.99).
2017: Hansson was a five-time All-American as a 2017 freshman and debuted as a Pac-12 champion as well. At the 2017 NCAA Championships, Hansson took third in the 100y fly (50.45) and seventh in the 200y IM (1:54.79) and won the B final of the 100y free (47.30), missing the A final by 0.11. She also helped USC’s 200y and 400y medley and 400y free relays reach A finals … She became a Pac-12 champion in her first conference meet, winning the 100y fly in a school-record 50.39 after first-breaking the record with a 50.70 in prelims. She also finished third in the 200y IM (1:53.72) and tied for third in the 100y free (47.36) after breaking the school record in prelims with a 47.34 (a mark she broke an hour later). She also helped USC to school-record swims in the 200y and 400y medley relays and the 400y free relay. Her leadoff swim in the 800y free relay of 1:42.10 broke USC’s record in the 200y free while her leadoff of the 400y free relay lowered her newly set 100y free record to 47.03 ... She was named CollegeSwimming.com’s Pac-12 Swimmer of the Week after her performance in Dallas at the SMU Classic in which she dropped an NCAA A cut in the 200y free in 1:43.04 and B cuts in the 200y IM (1:55.95) and 100y back (52.35) ... She won 13 races in dual meets over six different events (100y and 200y free, 100y and 200y back, 100y fly, 200y IM). She also won two races at the Texas Invitational, including the 200y fly, the seventh different race she won ... In the win over UCLA, Hansson erased the pool and meet records in the 200y IM with a 1:56.35. She lowered USC’s Stina Gardell’s meet record by 0.01 and Stanford Julia Smit’s 2010 pool record by 0.05.
SWEDEN: Hansson prepped at Nationell Idrottsutbildning in Helsingborg, Sweden, and swam for the club team Helsingborgs Simsällskap. Hansson came to USC fresh off an Olympic performance in Rio where she competed in four events for Sweden. She helped the Swedes earn fifth in both the 4x100m and 4x200m free relays and also finished 29th in the 200m IM (2:15.66) and 32nd in the 100m fly (59.73). Former Trojan All-American Stina Gardell was a Swedish Olympic teammate ... Hansson set a senior national record in the 200m IM (2:06:29) at the Swedish Short Course Championships. She also set a junior national record in the 100m IM (58.77). At the 2014 FINA World Championships, Hansson was a part of Sweden's silver-medal winning 4x200m free relay which broke the European record. Earlier that year at the 2014 European Championships in Berlin, she took home gold with the Swedish team in the 4x100m free and was a part of a Swedish record for the silver-medal winning 4x200m free team. She's seen success at the European Championships before, winning a silver medal for the 4x100m freestyle team in 2012. Hansson has plenty of individual medals as well, with a gold in the 50m fly and silver in the 50m free at the 2011 European Junior Championships. She followed up that performance by winning another gold medal in the 50m fly at the 2012 European Juniors.
